London is a city of extremes, where persistent poverty and disadvantage sit alongside great wealth.
While the city has a rich culture of philanthropy, the giving landscape is changing. We have seen a decline in public spending on the voluntary sector, necessitating a reliance on new sources of funding.
What can be done to ensure that those who can, give, while those in need get the support they need?
Join us at the launch of Centre for London’s new landmark report, More, Better, Together: A strategic review of giving in London.
The report presents a comparative assessment of the state of philanthropy in London today – covering giving by trusts and foundations, the general public, high net worth individuals, corporates and through social investment – and sets out an agenda for strengthening giving across the capital.
Londoners are generous givers at times of celebration and disaster in the capital – how can we maximise the impact of their generosity and encourage more frequent giving? How can London harness the advantage of social investment for all Londoners? How can we innovate to encourage collaborative giving for the causes most in need across London?
