The city's great war heroes

As 2018 marks the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice of 1918, we have a month of guided walks to commemorate the lives of the City men and women who went off to the Great War.

Thanks to support from the City of London Corporation these walks are free of charge, just turn up on the day.

Hear about the first ‘Pals Battalion’, where Stockbrokers, Bankers and Clerks, followed the call, joined up, and fought and died together. Honour the youngest Victoria Cross medal recipient, and one of the oldest soldiers to be killed in battle. Discover the first UK memorial to the Great War. Explore the role played by executed heroes. Learn about the brave deeds and battle honours of the City’s privileged regiments and how the City coped with the loss and tragedy of this global conflict. Walk in the footsteps of thousands of City workers who marched off to war before visiting the ‘Fields of Battle’, exhibition in the Guildhall Yard.
