History of Covent Garden Tube Station

31st Mar 1987During lift replacement work, the new lifts (3&4) were so unreliable, that work paused on replacing lifts 1&2 so they could be brought back into passenger use. They were finally taken out of service on 5th May 1987.
17th Dec 1984A disused corridor came back into use on 17th December 1984 as part of the lift refurbishment works and rebuilding of the ticket hall.
7th Aug 1983Covent Garden station started opening on Sundays again for the first time since it stopped Sunday opening in 1922.
