Description

Being a child in Hampstead today is a delightful experience: vast play areas, luxuriant open spaces, idyllic, mysterious alleyways adorned with spectacular flowers and thriving neighbourhood schools.

But how did the children of Hampstead live, play and learn in the past?

This mini exhibition on the first-floor landing of Burgh House aims to narrate the stories of the children who populated – and continue to populate – this charming corner of North West London, from the Victorian age to now.

This exhibition unveils Hampstead from the eyes of its younger residents, past and present, through their toys, photographs and portraits.
