Egyptologist Jaromir Malek explores the position of the cat in the religion of ancient Egypt
Find out how and why Ancient Egyptians held cats in such high esteem, mummifying them them in large quantities, and worshiping deities with their form.
Jaromir Male is the author of Cats in Ancient Egypt, and formerly the Editor of the Topographical Bibliography of Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphic Texts, Statues, Reliefs and Paintings and Keeper of the Archive at the Griffith Institute, University of Oxford. He is now Senior Research Associate at the Griffith Institute and President of ASTENE (the Association for the Study of Travel in Egypt and the Near East).
