Alan Sked talks about his founding of the Anti-Federalist League (renamed the UK Independence Party in 1993) and introduces some of the Eurosceptic archive material in LSE Library collections.
A chance to look at archive material with information from the archive's donator, in this case the founder of the Anti-Federalist League. Eurosceptic material from the 1990s and 2000s will supplement the material displayed in the exhibition with a chance to hear why Alan Sked formed a new political party.
Alan Sked is emeritus professor of international history at London School of Economics and Political Science and the founder of Ukip, which he quit in 1997. He writes on European, British and American history.
The British Library of Political and Economic Science was founded in 1896, a year after the London School of Economics and Political Science. It has been based in the Lionel Robbins Building since 1978 and houses many world class collections, including The Women's Library.
