Talk by Louise Johnson, regeneration and property manager, Alexandra Palace
The Alexandra Palace restoration project aims to transform the eastern end of the palace and open its most historically significant – yet currently derelict – areas to the public, in line with the vision of the palace’s founders in 1873 to “entertain, inform and educate”.
The 1875 Victorian theatre will be brought back to life and used for community, cultural and commercial events including theatre, films, comedy and acoustic music.
Also planned is a BBC Studios attraction, to include historic footage and information about television production, including animation, light and sound.
The main works for the Alexandra Palace restoration project are due to start in June 2016 and finish in late 2017 or early 2018.
