An entertaining and illuminating talk by the great niece of Bermondsey boy Albert Mckenzie, who was chosen by his shipmates to be awarded the Victoria Cross following the Raid on Zeebrugge in April 1918. A statue of Albert was recently erected in Tower Bridge Road, close to where he was born.
The talk will be looking at his brief life from a personal and local point of view, as well as at the fortunes of other Southwark VCs from the First World War.
There will be further information about accessing the records used in telling these stories for those who are interested in researching their own family history.
