The modern world is preoccupied with issues of conflict, but how is the subject best treated in the novel and what role does it play in the best fiction? Is it possible to dramatise global conflict, or is storytelling better suited to the personal? Chair of this year's Folio Prize judges, William Fiennes was The Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year in 2003 and is the acclaimed author of The Snow Geese and The Music Room. Neel Mukherjee’s first novel, A Life Apart, won prizes in India and the UK, and his second, The Lives of Others, was shortlisted for the 2014 Man Booker Prize. Erica Wagner is a critic, author, and 2014 Eccles British Library Writer in Residence.
