The discovery, conservation and form of London’s Roman Amphitheatre and its place in the category of Romano British Amphitheatres.
A talk by Andrew Lane, Education Officer, Guildhall Art Gallery and London’s Roman Amphitheatre
Archaeologists had always assumed that a city of Roman London’s importance would boast an amphitheatre, but until 1988 its location remained a mystery. This talk examines the discovery of this important building, the ground-breaking engineering that preserved the remains in situ and its form, with particularly reference to other Romano-British amphitheatres
Archaeologist Dr Andrew Lane is one of the Education Officers at Guildhall Art Gallery and London’s Roman Amphitheatre. The Guildhall Art Gallery and London’s Roman Amphitheatre is maintained by the City of London Corporation.
