In 1988, archaeologists working on the site of the new Guildhall Art Gallery, prior to the start of building work, made an exciting discovery – the remains of London’s Roman Amphitheatre.
This short talk by resident archaeologist Dr Andrew Lane explores the discovery, conservation and form of this important public building, and how this example fits within the wider context of Romano-British amphitheatres.
