Housing update: optimising and increasing density – NLA Half-day conference

With the Mayor committed to protecting the green belt, and the London Plan's big push for the development of smaller sites, how are we optimising and increasing density across the capital? What does this mean for the types of housing produced? Are we creating the right sorts of places that can be home to all generations?How are boroughs unlocking complex pieces of land for housing and what are the challenges therein? The London Plan titles London as a city for the young, but how are we ensuring our housing offer still responds to the ageing population?   The first of NLA’s biannual housing conferences will bring together London’s Deputy Mayor for housing and residential development with key housing experts for a discussion on the key challenges the housing industry currently faces. This conference is part of NLA’s year-long Housing programme, covering key issues such as affordable housing, public sector land, the private rented sector, off-site manufacture, the appropriate densification of housing and how we enable small developers and custom builders.
