A new polar research ship, The RRS Sir David Attenborough, is part of a multi-million pound modernisation programme, which is set to transform how the UK both enables and supports frontier science in Antarctica.
With a state-of-the art wharf, and a seven-year construction programme that has been put in place to upgrade or replace Antarctic research facilities, this modernisation programme represents the largest Government investment in polar science infrastructure since the 1980s.
Come and join us for in conversation with British Antarctic Survey's former Director of Operations, Captain Tim Stockings where you will both discover and learn, how excellence in engineering is critical for ensuring that Britain remains at the forefront of climate, biodiversity and ocean research in the Polar regions.
