Join us as author and tour guide Rachel Kolsky returns to Stanfords to talk about Jewish London.
From the East End and Hackney through Soho and the 'Mittel Europe' of NW2 & 6 trace how London's Jewish journey has been portrayed on the page and the big screen. 
Among the literature and films profiled, discover The Lowlife, Sammy Lee, The Kid for Two Farthings, a Barber in Stamford Hill, a Rainy Sunday, Chicken Soup and the Ghetto. 
Please note that this is a seated talk and will not involve walking. 
Tickets £4 (redeemable against the cost of Jewish London by Rachel Kolsky) includes a glass of wine / soft drink.
 
The newly released 3rd edition of her popular book Jewish London, co-written with Roslyn Rawson is the only travel guidebook that focuses on the sights, heritage and culture of London's historic and present Jewish community. Packed with fascinating and practical information, it features everything for the visitor to London, from walking tours of historic areas such as the old Jewish East End to listings of kosher restaurants and shops, and information on important Jewish Londoners and where they lived, complete with plenty of specially commissioned maps.

About the author:
Rachel Kolsky is a prize-winning London Blue Badge Tourist Guide. When not working or guiding, she supports her local independent cinema, The Phoenix, East Finchley, where she was a Trustee for over 20 years. Rachel is the author of four books Jewish London, Whitechapel in 50 Building, Secret Whitechapel and Women’s London.
