Throughout history, artists, scientists and philosophers have been fascinated by the relationship between maths and art.
In this stunning visual journey, award-winning writer Alex Bellos reveals the patterns in our universe and explores the beauty and wonder of maths in an imaginative, stimulating and completely undaunting way.
His latest book, Snowflake, Seashell, Star - A Colouring Adventure in Numberland, has been created with British mathematical artist Edmund Harriss and includes a series of patterns first to colour, and then to create, using simple rules and acts as ‘both a field guide and a therapeutic exercise book’.
Claudia Hammond is the presenter of BBC Radio 4's All in the Mind and author of Time Warped.
In association with Canongate.
