Set over six decades, the Standing at the Sky’s Edge musical follows three generations as they live at Park Hill estate.
In 1960s Sheffield, Rose and Harry are excited to move to Park Hill, the embodiment of post-war social housing. In 1980s Sheffield, there’s Joy, a Liberian refugee who moves to the north of England. And in 2010s Sheffield, southerner Poppy flees up north to flee a broken relationship. While the highrise flats stretch up to the sky, any hope of reaching for the stars is quickly knocked back down to earth.
Standing at the Sky's Edge explores the history of modern Britain, told through the struggles and triumphs of families as they face the challenges of a rapidly changing society. With its vivid descriptions of Yorkshire life, the musical captures the essence of a working class community: it’s a heartfelt exploration of what we call home.
Standing At The Sky’s Edge is recommended for those aged 6 and up. This show contains adult themes and strong language, including some scenes depicting physical violence, alcohol abuse, and death. Please note that this show contains flashing lights, haze, and loud sound effects.
