Sutton House was built in 1535, and the changing history of Hackney is evident on walls throughout the house; from dark wooden panelling, Jacobean painted walls, and a mural painted by 1980s squatters.
This year there has been a conservation project at the house to preserve yet another important piece of its history – pieces of wallpaper dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries.
Join a talk by wallpaper conservator, Dr Philippa Mapes on the conservation work, and a tour of the full house by one of the resident guides.
Sutton House will operate a small bar for refreshments. Please bring ID if you are fortunate enough to look under 25.
