Join Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE and curator Dr Neil Wilkin as they explore the summer solstice across the ages
What is a solstice and why have so many cultures gone to so much trouble to mark their passing? From the majesty of Stonehenge to the Brihat Samrat Yantra sundial in New Delhi to Nabta Playa in Africa, celebrate the solstice by looking at the monuments it has inspired at different times and places across our planet.
As we approach this year's summer solstice, Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock MBE, star of the BBC's Sky at Night, space scientist, science communicator and amateur archaeo-astronomer, looks at some of the many structures across the world that celebrate the transition from spring to summer.
Come and join the conversation, hosted by the Stonehenge exhibition curator, Dr Neil Wilkin.
This event is part of the public programme accompanying The world of Stonehenge at the British Museum (17 February – 17 July 2022).
