This afternoon event will explain the Government’s new ‘Building (Amendment) Regulations 2018’ and what it means for structural timber buildings.
In December 2018, the Government changed the Building Regulations to prohibit the use of combustible materials in the external walls of residential buildings over 18m. Whilst designers and manufacturers are developing innovative products and systems that meet the new regulations, the wider industry is still unsure of what the implications of the legislation are, especially with the use of structural timber.
With talks from leading architects, engineers and contractors, the event will investigate how other countries design and build in timber; identify new innovative external wall solutions that meet the regulations; discuss designing timber buildings for fire and durability, and explore what is next for timber.
After presentations and a panel discussion the event will close at 5.30pm with networking and a drinks reception.
The event is free to attend, but please register to book your place.
