This lecture, by Professor Sir Richard Evans (University of Cambridge), will explore the rumours of Hitler’s survival that have persisted since his suicide in the Berlin bunker on 30 April 1945. This talk will look at these claims, and discuss why and where they originated, and what evidence has been advanced to support them.
Every Wednesday in August 2017, we are hosting the Friends of The National Archives summer lecture series, supported by the Royal Historical Society.
The theme for this series is Secrets and lies: Suppression, distortion and fiction in past societies. Each lecture will start at 17:30. There will be light refreshments and a document display before the lecture, 17:00-17:30.
