History of Caterham Rail Station

26th Jun 1945On 26 June 1945, two motormen were killed, and some passengers injured, when two trains collided. The inquiry found that an inattentive motorman had passed a signal at danger.
Circa May 1928The line was electrified (on the 660 V DC system) by the Southern Railway in March 1928, and electric trains started using the station.
1st Jan 1900The original station closed and a new one next door opened on this day.
5th Aug 1856The first station opened on 5th August 1856 by the Caterham Railway.
