For 80 years, the journalists of ‘Soldier’ magazine have stood side by side with British Army troops to record seminal moments in our history. The short film in this display celebrates that contribution.

'Soldier', the official magazine of the British Army, celebrates its 80th birthday this year.

Since its inception in March 1945, when it was launched by Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery, the publication has covered every major conflict and issue shaping military life. It has been an indispensable guide for troops both at home and on operations – and continues to be at the forefront of the news affecting personnel and their families.

Hot on the heels of those it serves, the magazine's editorial team travels worldwide to bring its readers the latest news, views and interviews.
