The story of Europe’s medieval Jewish communities
Description
This event is ONLINE only - watch via a webcast.
Historian Miri Rubin examines the lives and experiences of Jews in medieval Europe. The Jews of medieval Europe were a distinct people, yet also deeply rooted in their local and urban communities. There was a great deal of mutual influence and interaction between these communities and their neighbours, as well as moments of crisis and acute violence.
Historian Miri Rubin will discuss the rich history of Jews and their communities during this period. She'll explore what they can learn about the communities themselves and what they can tell them about the diversity of European cities.
Miri Rubin is the Professor of Medieval and Early Modern History, Queen Mary University of London and President of the Jewish Historical Society.
