RCP Museum Late: Healing words – science or superstition?

Copyright Royal College of Physicians

Description

Join them after hours to explore science and superstition in the ‘Healing words’ exhibition with a curator tour and fun crafts.

‘Unofficial’, ‘domestic’ or ‘community’ medicine is sometimes associated with superstition but evidence of such is rare in their recipe books. There is, however, evidence of theories they might today consider superstition that historically were considered valid science. From horoscopes, to amulets, to the dangers of ‘evil vapours’. A short tour exploring these themes in the exhibition will take place at 6pm and 7pm.

The whole museum will be open after hours from 5.30pm–8pm for visitors to drop in. We will also have fun activities including diagnosing the historic disease and guess the scent.

Plus head to their craft café to create your own sign of the zodiac bookmark!
