Home Truths: Behind the Scenes Round Table

(c) ianVisits

Description

Ever wondered how exhibitions come to life? A round table discussion with their Museum curators and producers, alongside leading scholars and artists as they dive into the ideas and the making of their new displays, Rooms Through Time: 1878-2049.

Since its debut in July 2024, their new Rooms Through Time have sparked conversations about decolonial practice, community, and the future of museum curation. Many are impressed by the personal and culturally-specific approach led by the Museum, but how did this come about?

Join them to discover the stories and names of the individuals behind the exhibits. Curatorial work is hidden from the public eye. This round table offers the public a front-row seat to the behind-the-scenes processes adopted by Museum of the Home's team.

They will share memorable moments and insights into the art of producing, highlighting the realities of working with communities, engaging with challenging histories, and the opportunities of collaborative work.

This event will kick off their 2025 Home Truths series, which aims to create space for critical examination of curating theories and practice in action. This event presents an alternative to the usual museum public programming - it will be inclusive of the intangible aspects of creating content, as well as the possibilities and potential limitations of exhibition-making.
