Description

Oxford House presents its latest exhibition, Youth of Yesterday, featuring photographs by
Phillip Cunningham of Bethnal Green in the 1970s.

The photographs included in the exhibition were taken when Philip Cunningham was a youth worker at
Oxford House in Bethnal Green. Philip took hundreds of photos of the area at a time when Bethnal Green was seeing great change. His work captures daily life, friendship, local streets and youth culture in the late 1970s.

Most images in the exhibition haven’t been seen in over 40 years and many local people may even recognise themselves or their family members in the images.

The exhibition transforms the walls of the café in Oxford House into a vibrant display that will walk
locals down memory lane and are a wonderful reminder of 1970s youth culture. Alongside this, visitors
can use the Youth of Yesterday QR code to listen to tracks from the era.
