Description

Jewish communities thrived in many North African and Middle Eastern countries and Iran for centuries, enriching and being enriched by the cultural tapestreis of their societies. Today, very few Jews remain, following mass departure and displacement since the middle of the twentieth century.

Discover the stories of Jewish immigrants ot the UK from across the Islamic world in this audio-visual exhibition. With video interviews of Jews from Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq and beyond, Sephardi Voices brings their once vibrant communities to life, opening a unique window onto experiences of home and belonging, uprooting and resettlement, trauma and resilience.

The Sephardi Jewish community originates from Spain, North Africa and the Middle East. It is a community which has often been under-represented in the British Jewish story.
