Description

Museum of the Moon, an awe-inspiring large-scale artwork by UK artist Luke Jerram, will come to the Natural History Museum in summer 2019.

Visitors to the Museum’s Jerwood Gallery will have the chance to enjoy the scale and spectacle of this striking artwork as it’s displayed in the space for the first time.

The six-metre spherical sculpture features detailed, high-resolution NASA imagery of the lunar surface, accompanied by a surround-sound composition by Dan Jones, offering visitors a new and exciting perspective of the Earth’s celestial neighbour.

Suspended from the ceiling and lit from within, the Moon will create a show-stopping centrepiece within the 19th century Waterhouse architecture of the Jerwood Gallery. Offering a rare space for reflection within the Museum, visitors can contemplate their own relationship with the Moon and the wonders of the natural world.
