Description
This collection of photographs taken in 2015 by architecture and design critic Oliver Wainwright offers the opportunity to step into one of the most restricted and enigmatic places on the planet Inside North Korea.
With a focus on showcasing the unique architectural and interior features of Pyongyang, a city almost entirely destroyed by bombing during the Korean War (1950-1953), this collection of photographs illustrates the theatricality of many of the rebuilt spaces. Mosaics from the Pyongyang Metro stations, reproduced as wall-sized images in the exhibition, depict heroic scenes of postwar reconstruction, alongside bounteous landscapes of agriculture and industry, they showcase the achievements of the new nation.
The life-size graphics in this exhibition allow visitors to immerse themselves inside this strange and fascinating world providing a unique snapshot of the Hermit Kingdom.
