Disrupting the Futurecity explores the way in which international artists are positively disrupting our cities, shaping the way we inhabit and engage with public space.

Alvar Aalto spoke of building as being “a synthesis of life in materialised form…not a splintered way of thinking, but all in harmony together”. This view resonates with contemporary cultural creators, who are entwining art, architecture, science, master craftsmanship and engineering.

This exhibition introduces the practice of selected artists who engage with our built environment as creators rather than mere decorators and are transforming our cities into dynamic civic spaces.

FuturePace explores the way artists operate in the context of public space as a ‘gallery without walls.’ Futurecity offers creative dialogue between curator, architect, artist, technologist, poet, citizen, engineer and the audience. This international group of artists bring original ideas and applications to our cities with interventions and creative disruptions to architecture, infrastructure and our public realm. They collaborate with the designers of bridges, skyscrapers, parks, energy centres, hospitals, transport hubs and city centres.
