Misty Moon Presents Minder – The Reunion

Header image for Title
 Starts at 5:00 pm

Minder is a British comedy drama series about the London criminal underworld. Initially produced by Verity Lambert, it was made by Euston Films, a subsidiary of Thames Television, and shown on ITV for ten series between 1979 and 1994.

The first seven series starred Dennis Waterman as Terry McCann, an honest and likeable bodyguard and George Cole as Arthur Daley, an ambitious, but highly unscrupulous importer/exporter, wholesaler, used-car salesman and purveyor of anything else from which there was money to be made, legally or not.

In 1989, after filming the seventh series, Waterman left the programme, feeling that the character had run its course and that it was becoming harder for the writers to come up with plots as sharp as the earlier series. The series made a return in 1991, with another character replacing Terry. Waterman’s final broadcast episode, Series 7’s coincidentally titled The Wrong Goodbye, had closed as a standard episode, filmed before Waterman announced his departure and so with no clue as to Terry’s forthcoming departure. In the opening episode of series 8, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Entrepreneur, Arthur finds Terry had married and emigrated to Australia to finally escape Arthur’s influence. At the same time, he is stuck with looking after his nephew Ray Daley (Gary Webster), at the request of Arthur’s brother, to give him employment and keep him out of trouble.

Confirmed guests:

Gary Webster – Ray Daley. Gary’s first major TV role was in EastEnders playing Graham Clark from 1987 until 1988. He later became better known for playing Ray Daley replacing Dennis Waterman as George Cole’s on-screen sparring partner in the series. Webster joined the series in 1991 and remained until its conclusion in 1994.

George Sweeney – Clifton Fields. After playing Tim Cook in two episodes of The Sweeney, George played Clifton Fields in Series Two of Minder. George was in 3 episodes of the programme playing different characters.

Jonty Stephens – DC Field.

Jonathon Kydd – Ernie, Len and van driver.

Debbie Arnold – Julie in Minder On The Orient Express.
