In this talk, former housing association developer turned heritage professional, Roland Jeffery, steers us through these changes to the area and their correlation with the social conditions of the time.

About Roland Jeffery

Roland Jeffery worked for housing associations for twenty years, developing more than 2,000 newbuild and rehabilitated homes in London. He made a sideways move into the heritage industry where his projects have included three former town halls, a gaol in Ireland, a Hawksmoor church a number of Catholic and nonconformist chapels, Dreamland in Margate and Bletchley Park.

He has served as a long-term trustee of St Mungos housing and the Twentieth Century Society. Now retired, he devotes time to architectural history, especially of the twentieth century.
