England on Fire: An Evening with Stephen Ellcock and Mat Osman

In England on Fire, author and artistic curator Stephen Ellcock has picked through dust, ashes and shadows in a search for the most striking visual representations of England's uncanny landscapes. The awe-inspiring result is a collection of over 200 images from artists and visionaries, from William Blake and J.M.W. Turner to Derek Jarman and Sutapa Biswas.

Lovingly presented, these depictions of the strangest facets of England's interior and exterior geography are simultaneously unsettling and enrapturing. The selection is augmented by short pieces from the writer and musician Mat Osman, whose poetic words deepen and darken this exploration of an island ablaze with magic, spectres and boundless mystery.

To celebrate the publication of England on Fire, Stephen and Mat will be joining us for a discussion with the writer, DJ and broadcaster Zakia Sewell. This will be followed by an audience Q&A and a book signing. Doors will open from 6:30pm.
