The City Paveyards

Exploring the hidden churchyards and burial grounds in the heart of the City of London

What better place to spend an evening than in the old churchyards of the City proper. Lovingly manicured, they offer an oasis of peace from the outside world, but beneath these paved churchyards - or paveyards -  are the noisy stories and bones of Londoners past. Their headstones may be long gone but their lives remain; people who once bawled 'buy my cockles!' and 'chairs to mend'  in the street, to acts of remarkable bravery and stunning architecture.

Join Sheldon from the Cemetery Club for an after-work stroll to see some of these hidden wonders and hear tales about queens, architects and taphophiles past and as is customary on Cemetery Club tours, we'll be ending with a little-known music hall song about one of the landmarks of the city!

Meet by the spire of Christchurch Greyfriars (next door to Bank of America) for a 12pm start. The nearest station is St Paul's on the Central Line and City Thameslink, which is served by Thameslink.
