Join astronomers from the Royal Observatory Greenwich as they separate science-fact from science-fiction in the films you know and love, and a few films you might not have heard of...

With the backdrop of the rapidly expanding real-world research into artificial intelligence, Ex Machina is a story that explores the line between consciousness and code, showing it is perhaps more blurred than we imagine.

Consider the role of consciousness and emotionality in these 'intelligent agents' as Royal Observatory Astronomer Dhara explores the ideas behind and development of AI.

How could AI be useful in the future? And could there come a day when these systems are more intelligent than the humans that built them - a self sufficiency that could change our future forever?

Join us in this hour-long talk, held online via Zoom - details on how to join will be sent along with your ticket.

While having seen the film is not a prerequisite to enjoy the talk, feel free to watch it before you come along!
