This series of online talks, is part of the 10 Year Anniversary celebrations since the restoration of Strawberry Hill. Each talk explores just some of the activities and developments which have taken place over the past 10 years, including our Lost Treasures exhibition.
Strawberry Hill House is one of the best-documented houses in the country. Not only did its creator, Horace Walpole leave ‘A Description of the Villa’ but he also described it in numerous letters and commissioned drawings. When restoration research began in 2004, these sources were critical to understanding the materials and details of Walpole’s original design.
10 Years since its restoration, Michel Snodin and Carole Patey, both Trustees in 2010 and central figures in the restoration, discuss the hurdles and triumphs in rebuilding Horace Walpole’s inspirational ‘little gothic castle’.
