Introduced by Dr Robin Eagles, editor of the History of Parliament Trust's House of Lords 1715-90 project, the afternoon workshop will explore the context, causes and impact of the financial phenomenon that occurred in 1720.

The workshop will be separated into three discussion sessions, with a concluding round table talk, all available through the Zoom video conferencing service.

Confirmed speakers include Dr Natasha Glaisyer, Dr Aaron Graham, Dr Helen Paul and Dr Patrick Walsh.

2.10 Session 1: The Atlantic World and the trading context of the South Sea Company, led by Prof Anne Murphy

3.15 Session 2: The Court, Parliament, and the Bubble, led by Prof David Hayton

4.15 Session 3: The impact of the Bubble, led by Prof Anne Laurence

5.15 Concluding round table discussion- led by Prof Elaine Chalus and Dr Stuart Handley
