Speaker: Dr Emma Major, Senior Lecturer at the Department of English and Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies at the University of York.

Join Emma Major to find out about the eighteenth-century gin craze. We will look at who drank gin and how, why there was a gin craze, and explore some of the extraordinary events and creations that appeared during these years.

You will meet gin-dispensing cats, and Old Toms, and find out about the thoroughly disreputable supposed inventor of the first vending machine.
