Louise Wilkinson focuses on the role of Eleanor, wife of Simon de Montfort and sister of King Henry III during the Barons’ War of the 1250s and 1260s. In this talk, you will gain a detailed portrayal of the daily life of the countess and intimate insights into her personality, tastes and network drawn from original records held at The National Archives, which place Eleanor at the heart of the most important struggles for power and family politics in British history. 

Louise Wilkinson is a professor of Medieval History at Canterbury Christ Church University, and has published widely on elite women, gender and chivalry of the 13th century.
