“Never mind quantitative easing, show us the bling!” In this lavishly illustrated lecture, City Guide and former Bank of England employee Tim Kidd looks at the Bank's impressive art collection.

Through landscapes and portraits, architecture and caricature, the Bank has accumulated a wealth of images over the centuries. The history of the collection reflects the changing tastes and corporate ambitions of the City's great institutions and their remarkable private holdings.

The Wren church of St Margaret Lothbury, with its splendid woodwork, stands immediately opposite the north wall of the Bank of England itself.

Ticket price includes tea and homemade cake with the Friends of the City Churches. Proceeds of this event will contribute to the Melba Coombs Memorial fund, which honours the founder of the Friends' long-running Church Watching scheme. The FCC's Volunteer Church Watchers now help to keep half of the City's churches regularly open to visitors.

Cost: £10
