Take a peek below deck at the lives of those who boarded the Mayflower and changed the world forever
In 1620, a group of English pilgrims set sail to the new world on a ship called the Mayflower. The textbooks say they left in search of religious freedom, but what was the real reason? Who were the people on board the ship, where did they come from, and what were the factors that led to them leaving home? Join historian James Evans as he commemorates the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower's journey to North America. James Evans is a writer, historian and documentary producer. He has published two books, Merchant Adventurers and Emigrants, the latter, about the many 17th-century English who went to North America, on the Mayflower and other ships. He also ghost writes books on history and politics and produces documentaries. Image: Mayflower in Plymouth Harbor by William Halsall
