Explore the wide variety of Japanese ghosts, demons, and monsters with our Japanese curator Yasuyo Ohtsuka.

Japan has been always a land full of mysterious neighbours – monsters, fairies, ghosts, spirits, Shinto gods, Buddha and his countless avatars. The writer Lafcadio Hearn (1850–1904) was fascinated by Japanese stories of these invisible inhabitants. Join Japanese Curator Yasuyo Ohtsuka to learn about his retelling of these weird and wonder tales. Free but booking required Image: British Library Japanese Collection (1910)

Cost: Free of Charge
