Crystal Palace Railway Connections

This talk will explore both the evolution of the railway connections to the Low-Level and High-Level stations and also a range of other connections.

These connections include Paxton’s early doodle of the Crystal Palace whilst at a railway board meeting, the transportation of the iron work to London by railway, the pneumatic railway built in the grounds and Siemen’s demonstration of a prototype electric train on the Crystal Palace terrace.

This talk should provide insight into diverse aspects of the Crystal Palace story for those interested in local history rather than serious railway enthusiasts.

The talk starts at 19:30 on Tuesday 11th February 2020, doors open 19:00. The talk to last approximately 45 minutes followed by a Q&A. Visitors will be welcomed to browse the Museum after the talk and refreshments will be provided. When attending this event, please use the Anerley Road entrance to the Museum as the park will be closed.
