From Monasteries and Milkmaids to Metropolis: North London Through the Ages

Travel through a thousand years of history, meeting kings, artists, writers, painters, musicians, a real life Rapunzel, and even an Egyptian mummy!

On our tour we'll visit Islington's green spaces, churches, historic buildings, and a river that isn't a river. You'll hear how the area of Islington was transformed from monastic lands, to dairy farms (mind the cows!), to the sprawl of nineteenth century London. The tour begins outside Highbury & Islington Station, ends on Islington Green, and will take around two hours. Total distance is around two miles.
