The Influence of Cabaret and Club Culture

The Influence of Cabaret and Club Culture

 Starts at 7:00 pm

This panel discussion explores how cabarets and clubs have always been spaces of creativity, considering moments in history to ask when and how club culture started to influence our wider society.

Performer Lucy McCormick, Exhibition Curator Florence Ostende and New Generation Thinker Dr Lisa Mullen join Matthew Sweet for a BBC Free Thinking discussion exploring the ideas behind the exhibition Into the Night: Cabarets and Clubs in Modern Art.

From 1919 when the Weimar constitution said all were equal and had the right to freedom of expression, through to the Mbari Writers and Artists club in Nigeria, to the UK today, clubs and cabarets have always been spaces of creativity. Join us as we explore a series of moments in history and reflect on club culture.

Cost: £20.60
