For the last four evenings of the Festival, an installation made by artist Richard Sharples in collaboration with poet Joanna Clark will be shown in St. George’s Gardens, together with the short film Imagining Mountains, which will be projected in the Chapel of Rest.
The installation of illuminated sculptures and audio works is a response to the 2019 festival theme, Small Steps and Giant Leaps, and follows a discussion between artist and poet about their creative impetus and how they develop ideas.
The artwork attempts to map the various stages of development from initial inspiration to completed work, and celebrates process as much as final outcome.
The source material for the resulting film is Joanna Clark’s poem “Her Dream”, which recalls a walk taken in Snowdonia in the week following the death of her mother.
This event is open from 7pm – 9pm.
