Sir Roland Jackson will discuss John Tyndall (c.1822-1893). He is best known for his work on the absorption of heat by gases, underpinning our current understanding of the greenhouse effect, climate change, weather, and meteorology. He was also one of the most visible public intellectuals of his age, expressing trenchant views on the relationship between science and religion.

This event is in collaboration with Institute of Physics London and Southeast Branch.
