£2 £2Laid out by Nicholas Barbon in 1686 as a new street running east-west to connect the north section of Red Lion Street (Lamb’s Conduit Street) with a proposed new square (Queen Square), Great Ormond Street is 333 years old in 2019.
Alec Forshaw, a resident at No.49 for over 25 years and author of An Address in Bloomsbury will talk about the extraordinary developments and changes that this famous street has witnessed over the centuries, the institutions that have come and gone and those that still thrive, together with the influential people who have lived and worked there.
Free to members. Non-members welcome (£2 at the door). This talk is preceded at 7pm by the Society's AGM (open to CHS members only).
