The riots that started in a New York City inn inspired what became a global movement in human rights. Half a century on, there’s still progress to be made and at this Lates, visitors will get the opportunity to explore the history of LGBTQ+ rights and make their own voices heard.
Join us in a celebration of modern protest and design your own placard at a banner making workshop with experts from the Bishopsgate LGBTQ+ archives. Discover the stories of two of the Pride movement’s biggest contributors, Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, in the Unwashed Herstory of Pride, and share your own story in our Oral History Workshop.
Learn all about the sociocultural history of the female anatomy in a one-night-only exhibition from the Vagina Museum, hear period monologues from around the world with our spoken word artists, or take home your very own Period Zine in a hands-on workshop with Fem Zine London creator, Mia Maxwell.
Plus, see performances from indie singer-songwriter Lots Holloway who will be playing brand-new songs from her upcoming album – and hear from cabaret rapper, Rhysspieces, as he tackles subjects from mental health to substance misuse through spoken word.
All this and much more, including the out-of-this-world VR experience, Space Descent VR with Tim Peake, and our famous intergalactic silent disco.
