During Pride month, join us for an evening of Art Deco decadence and 1930s entertainment as we explore LGBTQ histories at Eltham Palace.
Enjoy an intimate, after hours look into the palace’s striking interiors and award-winning grounds as you are entertained by a range of artistic and creative responses to the queer history of the palace itself, the interwar years and beyond.
Wet your whistle on arrival, with a complimentary cocktail, created exclusively by mixology experts Ben’s House. Ben will be on hand all night, with a bespoke collection of cocktails, based on the LGBTQ history of the Palace and created with fresh ingredients from the palace gardens.
Actors playing the inseparable John Seeley and Paul Paget, the architects of the striking Art Deco house, and who lived and worked together, will be in attendance all evening. They will tell you about what life was like to be queer in the first half of the 20th century and regale you with stories of Lesbians, Gay men, Bisexuality, the pioneering of Transgender operations and the general queerness of the time.
Watch a fun Noel Coward Cabaret act and listen to our pianist performing on a Bechstein piano provided by Jacques Samuel Pianos. Put your best foot forward with our swing dance lessons in the Great Hall as Nancy Hitzig teaches you how to dance like a 1930’s star. Listen to Gin and Harmonics, an all-female LGBTQ choir, perform A Capella songs in the Entrance Hall.
Or, you can simply watch the sunset over London with a delicious cocktail and your friends surrounded by the impressive grounds of the palace on a summer’s evening.
